But what really is the African Black soap?

The African Black soap is a brown/dark brown soap that is made with ashes and oils.
The African Black soap as the name implies, is popular with African countries, like Nigeria, Ghana , Togo and Sierra Leone.
This soap is different from other soaps because, it doesnt contain lye(caustic sida), but potassium hydroxide, a natural derivative of the ash/oil mixture.

This natural product contains vitamins A and E. It is a good exfoliant and can be used for the cure of skin problems like acne, eczema and psoriasis.

 This natural African Black soap can also be used for hair treatments.

Now , How To Make The African Black Soap.

Ingredients
-  Banana and Plantain peels ( burnt to ash)
- palm oil.
- coconut oil
- shea butter

Method
Melt the buttet for ease of mixture with the other oils.
Get a double boiler, add in your ash mixture( already mixed with distilled water, as tap water might contain minerals which would prevent the soap from hardening).
Boil on low heat for 10 mins and start adding your oils gradually.

While it boils, you will see the soap starting to form by the sides.
Scoop and pour into your molds.
When a bit hardened, bring out from molds and cut into shapes.

This soap can take 2 weeks to cure, since it was processed using the hot press method of soap making.

Any essential oils of your choice can be added for a nice fragrance.
