Homemade Organic Shower Gel With Honey, Milk And Oat Powder
I usually prefer an organic shower gel in my bathroom over bar soaps. Don't get me wrong, Organic bar soaps are great, but i absolutely love the ease of using an organic shower, you just pour and wash.
Most of my beauty packs are homemade, i absolutely love the feeling i get knowing i'm in total control of my ingredients. Let me show you how i make my homemade organic shower gel with honey, milk and oats powder.
Ingredients
1. 2 tbs Shea Butter
2. 2tbs Carrier oil ( jojoba, cononut or olive oil)
3. 1 tbs Glycerin
4. 1 tsp xanthan gum(1/4 when using guar gum- it thickens more)
5. 1/3 Cup Castile Soap
6. 1/3 Cup Tap Water
7. 1 tsp Honey
8. 1 tsp Oat Powder
9. 1 tsp Milk
0. Any essential oils of your choice (lavender is my all time favourite)
1. Optiphen preservative (5%)
Process
In a Double boiler, melt your shea butter, stir the shea butter to break up clumps and form liquid)
Whisk the shea butter oil, carrier oil, and glycerin in a bowl
Sprinkle the xanthan gum over the liquid and let it sit for a minute. ( as the mixture rests, the xanthan gum will absorb the liquid and start to thicken up).
Using an immersion blender, whiz the mixture for a minute ( this will dissolve the xanthan gum in the glycerin, incorporate all the ingredients and begin the thickening process)
Pour in the Castile soap, warm water, oat powder, honey ( heated for 10secs in a microwave), milk powder and essential oils (optional)
Blend this mixture for 2 min , add your preservative
Bottle up and voila! Your homemade organic shower gel with honey, milk and oat powder is ready!..
Sooo hydrating and skin nourishing!
